A heartless attempt at raising a petition to charge the McCann's with neglect has been rejected by 10 Downing Street.

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Child-Safety/#detail

The reason?

It contained language which is offensive, intemperate, or provocative.

I remember this, some of the comments would turn your stomache.

The quest for "justice" will never be over for these idiots.

I see even the Foreign Office and the departments they keep pestering for details of gerry mccann's credit cards keep fobbing them off. WTH so they think they are? Laffin Laffin

I didn't know about this petition. The poster has assumed neglect was practiced by the McCanns and based the petition on that. She got off on the wrong foot as the McCanns would need to have been found guilty by law first before she started such a petition.

It's another attempt by people who ignore the law and wish to bypass it to punish the McCanns. They just wont give up it seems but neither will truth and rights as these sort of attempts to punish the McCanns have always failed. If they are to be punsished for anything it should be after facts and conclusive evidence prove they are guilty. Personal opinions cant be used to force the law to punish someone. Personal opinions can be used to change the law. If these people have an issue with what the McCanns did by leaving the children alone being neglect by law then they should have made a petition about leaving children alone without using the McCanns as the target.

I bet their defense will be that Kate and Gerry have the government in their pockets.

The ironic thing is that, I believe, it was not so much the language of the petition itself that got it thrown out, but the comments left on the petition. I can't say for sure if it ever would have got anywhere if people were only allowed to sign their name, nothing more. Probably not, but you can always rely on the more extreme anti's to vent their bile whenever the opportunity appears, and I don't need to quote some of the more sick comments, we are all familiar with them already. That is what got it pulled, most likely. At least the government can see these people for what they are.

How right you are. In fact at one time there were even posts on there giving links to child porn sites..in the name of Madeleine. The petition was Anti to the extreme, in fact it ended up being an anti blog...not a petition.

After reading the actual petition, I think that it would have failed anyway. Leic Social Services have investigated the McCanns already. And the results are not known, they are (quite rightly) subject to privacy provisions.

For a start, the person who started this petition was in no position to know what had or had not occurred. I think also that there are many more far pressing and urgent cases of child abuse/neglect going on that should take priority. So we know that Leic Social services visited the McCanns, and that nothing came of it. That is most likely because after a proper assessment, it was determined that no laws were broken.

Therefore this petition is just cow manure. The matter of the McCanns has been dealt with under the guidelines and processes determined under British Law. End of story.

Even if a petition is accepted, it would go no where because the appropriate minister would ask for a report from his/her department, find that all processes have been undertaken correctly, and the petition will be suitable ignored.

Do the anti's not realise just how stupid they look but this type of thing. I particularly liked the bit about the McCanns' media campaign creating sympathy. Really, i thought it was done to find Madeleine. And I doubt that it would create sympathy with Child Services. That is completely inappropriate sentiments for a petition. Welcome to amateur time.
