For PJ, torture is minor issue?

The case is not yet closed, because it can be appealed. But it began more than 12 years, when an employee of CP, accused of theft, was beaten to punch, slap on a board and with the premises of PJ.

The official in question was later acquitted, but in the meantime, had submitted a complaint of assault. Initially the prosecutor filed, but Virgolino Borges, the so called official insisted. Yesterday, the court gave him reason to condemn two chief inspectors of the PJ for the crime of torture.

These two inspectors remained active even after accused and pronounced the crime of torture. So far, I have not seen, even a PJ's position on the matter. It seems that for that institution, torture is a minor issue. Admittedly, the court also sentenced them to probation, which, given the fact that they charge and chief inspectors, with a more than reasonable knowledge of the law and the rights of others, seems nice (to say otherwise) .

Imagine that in the dock instead of the PJ officers were others. It would have been a penalty equal? Imagine that instead of political agents were committing a crime of equal severity; many voices would rise to demand the immediate resignation of the accused?

After all, they had bad luck. Virgolino was just a humble servant of the CP station in the suburbs of Lisbon. Who would dream that he would be persistent to the point that, for 12 years, do not give up Justice? Through the back of Virgolino, I see all our.
