Police Unveil Abducted Child Alert Scheme

Police will unveil a new nationwide alert system for enlisting the public to help them rescue abducted children next month.

The network, comparable to the amber alert system in the United States, will be compatible with other European countries for the first time.
As a result a continent-wide alert could be issued in circumstances where youngsters may be taken across national borders.
Kate and Gerry McCann have campaigned for such a system to be introduced since their daughter Madeleine disappeared in Portugal in May 2007.
Although some 100,000 children are reported missing to police each year, senior officers expect the national alert to be used extremely rarely.
Regional and national television and radio stations will broadcast messages, in some cases interrupting scheduled programmes.
Those behind the system hope to eventually use internet and text messaging as well as motorway information signs.
The system is being co-ordinated by the National Police Improvement Agency (NPIA) and any national abduction will be led by Greater Manchester Police.

Chief Constable Peter Neyroud, who heads the NPIA, said the new alert will be launched on May 25, International Missing Children's Day.
He said: "Child Rescue Alert is a powerful tool in the fight against child abduction in the UK.
"By establishing a powerful partnership between the police, media and the public, Child Rescue Alert allows information about the child and the suspect to be shared in just a few hours of a disappearance when the criteria for such an alert are met.
"These are often the vital hours which could literally mean the difference between life and death."
Work on the improved system began after the NPIA won a share of one million euros (886,000) from the European Commission alongside France, Holland and Belgium.
Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic have already introduced their versions of child abduction alerts that link with the European network.
The previous national alert system was established in 2006 and has only been used on a handful of occasions.
They included an incident when a six-year-old girl was found under a bed after being missed in a search and a child left strapped into a car stolen by thieves.
Investigators believe about 700 child abductions are reported each year, the vast majority of which involve the break-up of their parents.

Police will unveil a new nationwide alert system for enlisting the public to help them rescue abducted children next month.
Officials have been working behind the scenes for months to iron out bureaucratic hurdles to broadcasting sensitive information.
Kate and Gerry McCann have campaigned for such a system to be introduced since their daughter Madeleine disappeared in Portugal in May 2007. They emphasised how the first hours after an abduction are crucial and that an alert would spread information more quickly.
The new network, comparable to the amber alert system in the United States, will be compatible with other European countries for the first time.
As a result a continent-wide alert could be issued in circumstances where youngsters may be taken across national borders.
Although some 100,000 children are reported missing to police each year, senior officers expect the national alert to be used extremely rarely.
The upgraded child rescue alert system will use new computer software to handle the anticipated deluge of calls from concerned members of the public.
Similar alerts in France provoked 600 calls within the first three hours, leaving investigators struggling to prioritise information.
Regional and national television and radio stations will broadcast messages, in some cases interrupting scheduled programmes. Those behind the system also hope to eventually use internet and text messaging as well as motorway information signs.
The system is being co-ordinated by the National Police Improvement Agency (NPIA) and any national abduction will be led by Greater Manchester Police.

Why are they spamming it? Do they want the people to abduct children without restriction? If they cared for abducted children they would welcome those who promote it regardless of their feelings towards them. It is after all the children that matter.

It seems to be that way Diane!

The imbeciles are just proving what we have said about them all along, that they haven't got a clue what they are talking about, they do not care about Madeleine or any other missing child, they only want to feel free to attack and demonise the McCanns and that is why they are still here spamming missing child alerts, 3 years after Madeleine was abducted. They simply cannot bear the McCanns being seen as grieving parents desperately fighting to find their child against all odds and while doing this, still trying to help other missing children and their families. These half witted morons just cannot see how normal people view them, the antis that are left not only need a reality check, they need a mental health check too!

I see that The Morais Crew are puking over this.

Fancy them not wanting an Amber Alert System in Portugal. Who'd have thought it?

You only have to look at the history, to see there is a huge problem with child smuggling and sex abuse. There are powerfull forces at work protecting this industry, and people like morais, clawdia and their hero amaral are all in on it. Why else would they be so against a system that would save kids lives? It can't just be because the McCann's are backing it. We know for certain that amaral is corrupt, and we also know he's covering up the abduction. We also know that at least clawdia and most likely morais are both working closely with him. It's hard, I know, to imagine women being involved in such a heinous crime, but sadly money talks.

Yes they are just proving what we have said all along.
They dont want to protect children from going missing, but rather protect the ones who are carrying out these crimes.
Scum.

Of course they don't want it there Sabot, it may just show up some unwanted statistics. It may just show that they have a problem with children going missing and being hushed up, and the parents threatened if they make a fuss they will end up like Leonor Cipriano and Michael Cook! mAs Peaceful has said, the only ones these mrons want to protect is the people who abduct children!
