bennett the market trader!!

Post by vee8 on Thu May 07, 2009 9:52 pm

I don't know how many of you were aware of this, but our illustrious champion of all neglected and abused children, as long as they are blonde four year old girls by the name of Madeleine and who had doctors as parents, announced his plans to set up a stall at an unnamed town centre marketplace, handing out copies of his craplet. Well today was the day. He wasn't in place five minutes before the other market traders rounded on him, and sent him packing with a flea in his ear!

Next stop car boots Laffin

Ive brought this over from PFA

Stalled

by Hael Thu May 07, 2009 4:54 pm Here is my guide to practical car boot sale selling. Below I give useful tips on selling.

Car boot sales can be small affairs, such as a one-off school fund raiser or massive, carefully managed regular events. Charity car boot sales are fun, friendly and less commercialised but at large car boot sales you'll find four types of seller - caterers, market traders (selling mainly new items) and private sellers (folks who have had a 'clear out' and are selling their unwanted clutter) and tired campaigners trying to get rid of their unwanted pamphlets and booklets.
AS A SELLER, DO...
...make sure you have a pasting table and plastic sheeting if it decides to rain and a paper shredder for all those unwanted campaign material you tried to, but failed to, sell or give away.
...go with someone else (it's so much easier as you can take it in turns to serve and it's more fun with two) or you never know when you might need a witness.
...remember to take the puppet masters mobile phone number in case your license to sell is revoked before opening time.
...take plenty of small change, small notes, pen and paper, flask, picnic, carrier bags, a chair and bin liners as well as a clean set of underwear, you never know when you need to take that unexpected crap in your pants when the organisers/owners of the venue asks you to leave.
....take some wet wipes to clean yourself in case the above does happen.
...choose a sunny pitch away from big muddy puddles, just in case someone has the urge to throw you with mud.
...spread your stuff out to the sides so that people can see what it is you're offering.
...keep in mind why you are there - is it to just get rid of as much stuff as quickly as possible or is it to smear unwanted campaign material off on others when they purchase your crap.
...use the tactics of the supermarkets and advertise 'buy one get one free' offers if it suits your purpose.
...leave fake, dangerous or illegal goods at home.
...supply your customers with a carrier (poop) bag, to place the unwanted material in and toss it in the nearest bin.
...dont forget to take your pitchfork with.

I wonder why Doris and Co were absent from the outside of the This Morning TV studios after asking for voluteers to hand out leaflets, two posters turned up apparently but no Doris or anyone from bennetts foundation.
