One thousand days
And nights.......

And into the silence
of the sleep forbidden night
Through the blurred torn edges
of half remembered dreams
comes again
the longed for sight

Of a tousled head
in a still warm bed

And I would die

But hope comes creeping
with the dawn
So light a candle
Say a Prayer
Touch her hand
And stroke her hair

She is still there

The vulnerability and the sacred trust of a sleeping child is the vision that stays with me whenever I think of Madeleine. The violation of such a trust is what sometimes destroys me and yet I know it has existed for all time and is part of this human dilemma we call life.
